Eligibility Requirements
Student eligibility requirements are determined by Washington state laws, the Washington Department of Education, and Washington Virtual Schools. Before enrolling, carefully review the following eligibility requirements to determine whether your student(s) is eligible to participate in this program.

Washington state requires families to complete a District Choice Transfer Request when enrolling a student in district outside of your resident district — even if the school is virtual.

You must reside within the state of Washington and provide one of the following documents as proof of residency to be eligible for enrollment.
Utility bill indicating legal residence dated within the last 30 days (i.e. phone, cable, electricity, water).
Lease agreement or Mortgage statement
Bank Statement

Please provide an official document showing proof of age. Acceptable documents are as follows:
Birth Certificate
Passport

All students must provide evidence of their immunizations according to the Washington Immunization Guidelines linked here.
Washington allows exemptions for personal, medical, or religious reasons through a Certificate of Exemption linked here. -
Please provide a school records, including:
Report Card (Grades 1-8)
Transcript (9-11)
Homeschool documentation

The state of Washington requires parents to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit Application before they can enroll in a new school. Please complete the form here, as you will need to upload it during the enrollment process.

A student is eligible to enroll if the student:
Is in grade K-11
Is coming from another Washington public school or online school.
Is coming from homeschool, private school, or out-of-state.

You may need to provide additional documentation if any of the following circumstances apply:
Custody order: If your legal guardianship is determined by court order, please submit a copy of the order.
Gifted evaluation: If you are requesting enrollment in a course that is ahead of or behind your student’s age-based grade level or you are requesting placement in a Gifted course, an Academic Services Counselor will contact you to request a report card, Prior Academic History Form, and/or state test scores.
Special Programs Records: If your student falls under a special program (e.g., Special Education, 504, ESL), please provide the most up-to-date paperwork so we can verify and begin providing the appropriate services.
You will submit all documentation during the enrollment process.
Washington District Choice Transfer
Families interested in changing the school district in which their child is enrolled must fill out an Online Choice Transfer Request through the Washington Department of Education. This applies to families moving to Washington and existing WA residents as well. Each district must approve the transfer before the student can officially be enrolled in a new school — even if that school is virtual.
